Kolokotronis's Memoirs: interactive theatrical documentary

An original performance in modern interactive media about Theodoros Kolokotronis, the emblematic figure of the Greek Revolution of 1821.

Presented from July 9 to August 1, 2021, at the History Museum of the University of Athens, Tholos 5 in Plaka.

The performance Memoirs of Kolokotroni: an interactive theatrical documentary is an innovative artistic and research project, in terms of conception and structure, of the director Marianna Lampiri In collaboration with the Laboratory of Music Acoustic & Technology (LABmat) of the Department of Music Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA), with the President of the Department, Professor of Music Technology Anastasia Georgaki. The project is supported by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (ELIDEK) in the context of the 1st Announcement of the Action "Science and Society" - "200 Years from the Greek Revolution".

2021 marks a 200 year anniversary of the first national revolution in Europe, that led to the foundation of the modern Greek state. Theodoros Kolokotronis is probably the most prominent heroic figure of that era. The play is based on his own written memoirs, as dictated by Kolokotronis to Georgios Tertsetis, titled "Narration of events of the Greek race from 1770 to 1836". The radiant hero is here presented in the context of an   imaginary, historical museum, as a living "exhibit" that comes to life through research.
