Inaugural Meeting of the Greek Digital Humanities Research Network (DH-GR)

The inaugural meeting of the Hellenic Digital Humanities Research Network took place successfully on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the National Hellenic Research Foundation in Athens. The event, supported by the Modern Greek Studies Association (Innovation Grant), marked the Network's official launch and set the foundation for future collaborations within the Greek-speaking digital humanities community.

The meeting brought together researchers, academics, and professionals active in the field of Digital Humanities, providing a platform for engagement, exchange of ideas, and community building. Attendees discussed the Network’s mission, and its role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and promoting digital methodologies in research and education within the humanities. Special attention was given to the legal establishment of the Network as an official association, ensuring its long-term sustainability and institutional recognition.

The event featured both in-person and virtual participation, allowing individuals from Greece and abroad to join the discussions. Throughout the day, key topics included the integration of digital tools and methods in humanities research, the challenges and opportunities of digital scholarship in Greece, and strategies for strengthening international collaborations.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the Network’s commitment to inclusivity, open collaboration, and the advancement of digital humanities in Greek-speaking academia. Participants were encouraged to actively engage in upcoming initiatives and working groups.
